Proverbs 2
Defining Wisdom
Read Proverbs Chapter 2
Key Verses | Proverbs 2:10
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Reflection
The ancient Egyptians perfected the art of mummification. During the mummification process the priests took great care to remove and preserve the heart of the deceased. But the brain? The brain was scooped out and thrown away (scooped out through the nasal cavity for those who care to know). The Egyptians exemplified the common perception of the ancients, which included the Israelites. To the ancients it wasn’t the brain that was the control center of the human being, but the heart. For Solomon the ultimate result is for wisdom to enter your heart. True wisdom is when head knowledge (what we know) becomes heart knowledge (what we do). In other words true wisdom is a heart rightly directed. So, don’t just seek knowledge. Seek to apply the knowledge you gain.

2. As you read through Proverbs 2 what verses jumped out to you?
Prayer
Father God, you are a God of wisdom and grace. As I read your word help me to not only read your word with my mind, but to also allow your word to be planted in my heart. Help me to not only know what is right, but to also do what is right. I thank you for your perfect wisdom. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
