Proverbs 28
Confession is Good for the Soul
Read Proverbs Chapter 28
Key Verse | Proverbs 28:13-14
13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
14 Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
Reflection
The verses above reveal a powerful spiritual rhythm: confession of sin opens the door to mercy. Concealment, by contrast, leads to stagnation and spiritual barrenness. Sin thrives in secrecy. When we hide our failures – whether out of pride, fear or shame – we cut ourselves off from the very grace that could restore us.

Confession, however, is more than admitting wrongdoing. Proverbs 28 links confession with renouncing. Confession is a turning of the heart away from sin and towards God’s mercy, grace, and power. This is where mercy meets transformation. God gives mercy and transforming power. When we come honestly and humbly before him God gives us the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome sin.

Lord, I Need You by Matt Maher
Self-Examine
1. Do you have hidden sins you are struggling with? Have you confessed those sins to God?

2. Part of confession is accountability. Is there someone in your life you can trust whom you can confide in? We aren’t designed by God to struggle alone.
Prayer
Merciful Father, I come before you with an honest heart. You see what I have tried to hide – my pride, my selfishness, my careless words, my neglected obedience, my secret sins. I confess I have not always walked in the light you have given me. Forgive me for not bringing my sin to you. Soften my heart where it has grown dull. Give me courage not only to admit my sin, but to turn from it. Thank you that your mercy is greater than my failure. Wash me, renew me, and empower me through your Holy Spirit. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!
